Typhoon No. 12 is slowly moving northward toward Japan and is expected to near Honshu by Thursday or Friday.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warns of stormy weather, high waves and rising water levels in rivers between Wednesday and Friday, especially in western Japan and the Pacific side of eastern Japan.
The typhoon is located south of Japan as of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the meteorological agency. Its central pressure is 992 hPa. The maximum wind speed near the storm's center is 23 meters per second, and the maximum instantaneous wind speed is 35 meters per second.
