Tyne and Wear Metro trains cancelled due to power failure

Tyne and Wear Metro Trains have been cancelled between Airport and South Gosport in both directions following a power failure this morning.

The rail network provider advised shortly after 5am that due to power supply issues the trains are not running.

TWM has advised passengers affected by the disruption to contact the Help Point for updates. Arriva will also be accepting Metro tickets and passes from Regent Centre into Newcastle City Centre.

The first bus will be 5.45am from Regent Centre.

Tyne and Wear Metro tweeted: "There are no trains running between Airport and South Gosforth, in both directions, due to a power supply issue.

"Any customers wishing to travel in this area are advised to contact the Help Point for further travel information."

"Sorry for the inconvenience caused this morning."
