Tyler Walker's future addressed by Lincoln City chief Michael Appleton after Ipswich brace

Tyler Walker gave another glimpse of his potential after scoring a terrific lob to help Lincoln City beat League One promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town.

The on-loan Nottingham Forest striker bagged two more goals in Lincoln’s incredible 5-3 win at Sincil Bank on Sunday to take his tally for the season to 12, and boss Michael Appleton is hopeful of being able to keep him beyond January.

Given Forest’s shortage of striking options beyond Lewis Grabban, there has been speculation that boss Sabri Lamouchi could recall Walker from his season-long deal to bolster his options at the City Ground.

Appleton, though, believes any decision regarding Walker and his other loanees future will be his.

“There are conversations ongoing and conversations that still need to be had,” Appleton told Lincolnshire Live.

“All I’ve got to do is make sure, if we lose any players, that we’ve got people in mind who can replace them.

“That will be fluid.

“Even if you’ve got no plans to do any [transfer] work in January and you’re settled and happy with your squad, the reality is that doesn’t happen.

“Things happen all the time. Players leave clubs because they want football. Then, all of the sudden, you’ve got to replace them.

“We’ll keep on top of those players and give you the information as and when we get it.

“If any player is to go back to their parent club, it’s because we think we can replace them with better players.

"That’s the harshness of football. If we don’t think we can do that, then that’s not going to happen.”

“I’m under the impression that the majority of it is in my hands.”
