Tyler Lockett the NFL’s most efficient receiver over the last 10 years

Much ado was made about Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett’s perfect (158.3) passer rating when targeted last season, an extraordinarily rare feat that exemplified the stellar relationship between the fourth-year receiver and his quarterback, Russell Wilson.

But Lockett, despite being used primarily as a kick returner early in his career, has always been an efficient pass catcher.

Pro Football Focus ranked the five receivers with the highest passer rating when targeted since 2009 (minimum 200 targets). Lockett paced the group with a 127.4 mark, just ahead of recently retired Jordy Nelson (120.5) and Tyreek Hill (119.8).

Rounding out the top five is Saints receiver Michael Thomas (116.5) and Seattle’s own Doug Baldwin, who comes in with a solid mark of 114.4.

Of course, Lockett has only seen action in the last four seasons, making him the least experienced of the five players who top this list.

Still, the fact that he tops the list – and that Baldwin is No. 5 – are good indications that the relationships these receivers have with Wilson are elite, and are a big part of Seattle’s success over the past decade or so.
