Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett to release book of poetry Oct. 15

Tyler Lockett of the Seattle Seahawks is not only one of the NFL’s leading receivers but he is also about to become a published poet.

Lockett recently that announced “Reflection,” a new book of his poems, is set to be released Oct. 15.

Lockett spoke with media members about the book, which was written as a way to help other people by sharing his own personal struggles and journey to where he is today.

“I never thought I would do a poetry book, to be honest,” Lockett said on Monday. “It really means a lot to me. I found out that the best way to be able to help somebody is to talk about yourself. One of the things I have in there in the introduction is if you talk about somebody else’s scars, they feel like they’re the victim and they feel like you’re coming at them. But if you talk about yourself and share your own scars, they’ll listen more and the conversation becomes more transparent.”

Lockett described “Reflection” as a self-help book, mentioning the daily struggles people have with anxiety and depression as motivation for him to write the book.

Lockett and the Seahawks will resume practicing as usual on Wednesday in preparation for the Browns, whom they will face in Cleveland on Sunday.
