Tyler Lockett reacts to Seahawks releasing Al Woods

It is no secret the biggest weakness for the Seattle Seahawks last year was their defensive front – specifically, the defensive line. It should be noted this was not the fault of defensive tackle Al Woods. Perhaps the only bright spot in this position group was the behemoth Woods, doing his best to defend the run.

The focus of this offseason for Seattle has been to revamp their defensive line, and unfortunately, doing so involves making tough decisions. One such decision has been to release Woods. The move makes sense given his age (he turns 36 at the end of this week) and the fact it will save $3.67 million.

However, these reasons don’t change the fact Woods was a beloved teammate, and wide receiver Tyler Lockett reacted as much on Twitter.

It’s not often a player of any kind, let alone one who plays a less glamorous position like defensive tackle, would get a full tribute video, but this is what kind of impact Woods made on the Seahawks.

Should Woods decide to keep playing, here’s hoping he finds himself in a great situation for 2023.
