Tyler Lockett debuts at No. 98 on NFL Network’s ‘Top 100 Players of 2019’

The NFL Network has begun its yearly countdown show, with the “The Top 100 Players of 2019” kicking off ahead of the season. Votes from players around the league were tallied to reveal the best of the best from last year. On Monday night, NFL Network announced the first 10 players from the list – spots No.100-91.

In the Pete Carroll era, the Seattle Seahawks have always had solid representation on the list, with multiple players showing up in the Top 100. Now there is another who joins the ranks . . . wide receiver Tyler Lockett has debuted at No. 98.

Lockett enjoyed a breakout, career-year in 2018. After a surprisingly solid rookie campaign in 2015, Lockett spent 2016 and 2017 flying under the radar. As Lockett battled injuries, the former Kansas State star was struggling for relevancy on a Seahawks offense desperate for receiving help.

Last year, Lockett finally put it all together and proved the Seahawks were right to give him a contract extension prior to the 2018 season. Lockett erupted for 957 yards and 10 touchdowns on only 57 receptions. When quarterback Russell Wilson targeted Lockett, he enjoyed a perfect passer rating of 158.3. No other quarterback-wide receiver duo achieved this last year.

Lockett picked the perfect time to show his capabilities, as No. 1 receiver Doug Baldwin missed significant time due to injuries. Now Baldwin is no longer on the roster, and the Seahawks offense will be counting on another big year from the No. 98 player in the NFL.
