Tyler Kroft to land with Bills after Bengals re-sign C.J. Uzomah

The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed tight end C.J. Uzomah and let Tyler Kroft walk. Kroft signed a three-year, $18.75 million contract with the Buffalo Bills.

This puts the Bengals in an interesting compensatory pick situation. The pick, per overthecap.com’s Nick Korte, will be a “borderline” fifth-round pick.

The Bengals might bring back Tyler Eifert this offseason as well so the need for a third quality tight end was not there. Letting Kroft walk in favor of Uzomah is one of the smarter decisions made by the Bengals’ front office.

It also seems likely that the Bengals draft a tight end to develop in case Eifert returns and is injured midseason yet again.

After playing in 16 games throughout the 2017 season, Kroft saw snaps in just five games before going down with a season-ending injury. For Buffalo, they’ll be praying the tight end entering his fifth season can stay healthy.

Adding a pick and allowing a tight end to walk might highlight the day for Cincinnati.
