Tyler Boyd, Xavien Howard ejected during controversial sequence in Week 13

Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tyler Boyd and Miami Dolphins corner Xavien Howard were ejected from Sunday’s Week 13 game.

Boyd and Howard got into it on the sidelines and had a little shoving match, which started an extremely odd set of events from the NFL’s officials.

Said officials decided both players committed personal fouls and needed to be ejected, but only the Bengals ended up penalized from the altercation.

That knocked them out of field goal range, causing a miss, as well as their No. 1 wideout who had previously scored the longest Bengals touchdown since 2017 earlier in the game.

The ejections and how only Cincinnati ended up punished on the play — never mind that players were ejected for soft shoves in the first place — earned plenty of criticism:
