Tyler Boyd on A.J. Green: ‘A.J.’s not going anywhere’

Count Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd among those who don’t see the team having a problem with A.J. Green’s upcoming extension.

Boyd got his four-year extension officially announced Tuesday, which turns the spotlight to Green. The owner of the fresh new deal isn’t worried, though.

“A.J.’s not going anywhere. They won’t let him go. They love him here. He’s an all-time great here,” Boyd said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Rest assured this is all part of the plan. Boyd wanted to stick with the Bengals in large part because of Green, a guy he’s been in contact with the whole time about this:

And that’s one of the reasons Boyd wanted to stay. He loves playing with him. He and Green were talking pretty much throughout the negotiations that began in the spring and ended Monday.

So what’s the hold up with Green? Julio Jones in Atlanta. The Bengals had a good idea of how to frame Boyd’s extension because of the New York Giants-Sterling Shepard extension — which Boyd cited as what he wanted.

Like the last Green extension, his next one probably won’t get done until Jones gets one in Atlanta. But it will get done — or we probably wouldn’t be talking about Boyd’s extension right now.
