Tyler Adams sent transfer message over Leeds United future with Aston Villa wish made clear

Tyler Adams is expected to be the subject of plenty of transfer speculation this summer. The midfielder has already been linked with a number of clubs and the summer window is still in its infancy.

The likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Arsenal have so far been credited with interest in the 24-year-old following relegation to the Championship. And Villa is an ideal destination for him, according to one former US soccer legend.

Pundit and former player Alexi Lalas has been having his say on the future of the USMNT international, who joined in the summer from RB Leipzig. Unai Emery's side are said to be the ones pushing the hardest to try and lure him away from Leeds United.

And that's a move that would get the thumbs up from Lalas, who feels Adams was the most impressive of Leeds' American trio, which included Weston McKennie and Brenden Aaronson.

"I don’t want to see Tyler Adams play in the Championship," he said on his State of the Nation podcast. "And I think of the trio of Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Brenden Aaronson, Tyler is the most valuable and did himself the best in terms of the way he is viewed.

“So, I would love to see this [move to Aston Villa]. I’ll put Tyler Adams up against anybody."

Adams started 24 of the opening 26 Premier League matches following his £20m switch from the Bundesliga but the Whites missed him during the run-in as a hamstring injury kept him out of the final 12 matches.

With relegation not confirmed until the final day, his absence from the starting XI was a big loss. He also played every minute of his country's matches at the World Cup in Qatar.
