Tyler Adams confident Georginio Rutter has the 'quality to succeed' at Leeds United

Tyler Adams insists club record signing Georginio Rutter has the 'quality to succeed' at Leeds United. The Frenchman, who arrived from Hoffenheim in January, has made all five of his Premier League appearances from the bench.

His only two starts for the Whites have come in the FA Cup, and the 20-year-old thought he'd scored his maiden goal when he pounced on a rebound in the first half of Leeds' 2-0 defeat at Fulham on Tuesday.

Weston McKennie's goal bound header was parried by Marek Rodak and Rutter was on hand to tap-in from close range. However, he was denied his first goal for Leeds when the linesman flagged for a push from McKennie on Fulham winger Harry Wilson.

Nonetheless, the forward looked lively at times, and Leeds midfielder Adams is in no doubt that his teammate can become an important player at Elland Road.

Adams told BBC West Yorkshire Sport Daily: "Against Accrington Stanley I could tell right away that he had the qualities to succeed at this club. I had the opportunity to play against him in the Bundesliga a couple of times and I was always wondering, who is this kid? Where is he from?

"Now we're here together at Leeds. I see in training the qualities that he brings to this team. He's comfortable under pressure, he can play with both feet, he's not afraid to go at you and that's the type of attacker that you want.

"You want the guys that are always going to keep defenders on their heals and keep them guessing. It's unfortunate because you score a goal and your confidence levels go through the roof.

"Again, he can be happy with his performance from last night. He's going to be an important player for us moving forward, the more and more chances he gets. He's going to be a really important player for us."
