Ty Montgomery is Jets Wire’s Preseason Week 2 Player of the Game

The New York Jets secured their first win of the preseason with a 22-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday.

The Jets were led by running back Ty Montgomery, who finished with seven carries for 36 yards and a touchdown. For his performance, he is Jets Wire’s Player of the Game for Week 2 of the preseason.

Montgomery is going to be the Jets’ No. 2 running back this season with Le’Veon Bell as the main back. The versatile Montgomery is going to be used in a variety of ways, as he’ll have to take some of the carries off of Bell’s legs while being a threat in the passing game as well.

The 26-year-old is looking to have a resurgence in his career following disappointing 2017 and 2018 seasons. Montgomery showed what he is capable of in 2016 when he had 457 rushing yards and 348 receiving yards to go along with three total touchdowns.

He has been hampered by injuries over the last two seasons, as he’s only played in 21 games. Montgomery has already been nicked up by small injuries in training camp so far, but he has been able to play in both preseason games.

If Montgomery can stay healthy, the Jets have two versatile running backs that can pose a huge test for opposing defenses.
