Txiki Begiristain gives Aro Muric a big Man City hint

Txiki Begiristain has indicated that Aro Muric is a big part of Manchester City’s plans for the next five years.

The Blues moved to tie up the 20-year-old Kosovo international until 2024 by getting him to agree a three-year contract extension, before he left to join Nottingham Forest for a season’s loan in the Championship.

Muric was recalled from his loan to Dutch club NAC Breda last season after Claudio Bravo ruptured his Achilles tendon, and spent the campaign as understudy to Ederson, picking up five Carabao Cup appearances along the way.

But with Bravo returning to training this week and fit to resume his duties as number two, it left the Blues in a dilemma.

Bravo is expected to leave at the end of his contract next summer, and by sending Muric out for vital experience, City hope he can step up once more, and this time put pressure on Ederson.

Football director Txiki Begiristain secured the keeper, who also made his international debut last season, and then spoke about his plan for him.

“Aro is a fantastic prospect and has a very bright future at this club,” he said.

“He has already shown his confidence and ability during our Carabao Cup run last season and is only going to get better.

“His attitude, focus and calmness has impressed everyone, and we are delighted he has extended his current deal until 2024.”
