AMBALA: The police on Tuesday booked two youths of Balana village in Ambala district allegedly for blackening a photo of Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar's at a hoarding banner placed at Aggarsain Chowk in Ambala City.
On the complaint of a police officer, a case has been registered against Happy and Bunty of Balana under Section 147 (punishment for rioting), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector 9, Ambala City police station.
In his complaint, special police officer (SPO) Nirmal Singh said that he was on-duty and went towards Aggarsain Chowk while patrolling on Tuesday. He said some youths were standing and protesting with flags in their hands in support of the farmers on both sides of Hisar road near Aggarsain Chowk.
"They had been doing peaceful protest on daily basis and used to go back to their homes after holding the demonstration. But some five-six youths who were protesting at about 6.30 pm on Monday near Aggarsain Chowk started making provoking speeches and threatening Shri Manohar Lal Khattar. They abused the minister. They blackened a photo of Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar with black spray paint, printed on a banner installed at Aggarsain Chowk. This banner was installed by the members of the Aggarwal community to thank Haryana CM for announcing to name Hisar airport after the name of Maharaja Aggarsain", said SPO Nirmal.
