Two young children narrowly escape tragedy after branch falls from dead tree in Dublin park

Two young children narrowly escaped tragedy when a branch narrowly missed them after falling from a dead tree in a Dublin park

The near-miss has led to renewed calls for South Dublin County Council to remove the large fallen tree in Beverly Park, Knocklyon.

A concerned resident contacted local community group Knocklyon Network to ask for help getting the tree removed before someone is seriously hurt or killed.

They wrote: "Hi, can you please make a post regarding the big fallen tree in Beverly Park?

"I witnessed a huge branch of it fall off today, barely missing two small children playing in the park.

"TDs and councillors have been informed time and again for years but no action has been made, are they waiting for a fatality to occur?

"Everyone should contact the council about dealing with this danger before someone gets injured or killed."

Dublin Live has contacted the local authority for comment.
