Two Years Later, Courteney Cox's Unpainted Kitchen Cabinets Still Showcase the Power of Keeping Things Simple

Courteney Cox.

I'll be honest: I'm partial to painted cabinets. I love a bright and invigorating kitchen, so unpainted cabinets have never been my top preference. However, two years since I first saw them, I have been thinking about how Courteney Cox's natural, wood cabinets are so effortless and elegant, and it's once again making me reconsider my space.

The Friends star shared a clip in her modern rustic kitchen, and the floor-to-ceiling, smooth wooden cabinets are a clear highlight.

The soft grain of the natural material, combined with the light brown color, makes for an incredibly versatile style choice. Simply put, the instinct to cover wood with paint should be carefully considered.

Shop the Wood Kitchen Edit

One of the things I love most about wood cabinets is how unassuming, yet warm they are. All too often, modern kitchens lean towards matte, unnatural materials for the sake of a contemporary sensibility. Wood cabinets are a true workhorse in the sense that they can pair well with modern appliances and fixtures, as well as natural accessories.

On the topic of the latter: if you aren't quite ready to remove paint from your cabinets, I would recommend this handsome, $10 serving bowl from Crate & Barrel, or this acacia wood cutting board, as great countertop staples. A way to provide a clinical cooking space with character, wooden textures almost always provide a room with depth. Even the newest of kitchens can appreciate a dose of organic texture.

Courtney's space comes to life through its cabinetry. One-of-a-kind in texture, it enriches her kitchen with warmth and an immediate sense of homeliness.

While I still love a bright yellow or baby blue kitchen cabinet, Courteney's timeless cabinets are the ultimate reminder that sometimes, less is more.
