Two-year-old girl killed in crash on Sturt Highway north of Adelaide

The car crash occurred on the Sturt Highway about an hour north-east of Adelaide's CBD.

A two-year-old girl from Grange has died after a car she was a passenger in collided with a parked truck on the Sturt Highway, north of Adelaide, on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash at the intersection of Job Road at Shea Oak Log, north-east of Gawler, at about 10:45am.

A 6-year-old girl from Grange, who was also a passenger in the car, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Women's and Children's Hospital.

The driver of the car, a 63-year-old Semaphore Park woman, was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.

Their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening.

No-one was in the parked truck at the time of the collision.

The Sturt Highway was closed for northbound traffic for several hours while Major Crash investigators examined the scene.

Major Crash Investigators want to speak with anyone who may have seen a light rigid tyre repair truck stopped on the northern side of the Sturt highway between 10.30am and 10.43am on Wednesday morning.

Anyone who may have captured the truck on their car's dashcam is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The toddler was the 53rd person to die on a South Australian road this year.

The road toll at the same time last year was 65.
