Two-year-old boy seriously injured after shooting in London

A two-year-old boy was one of four people injured in a shooting in north west London.

Detectives are appealing for information after the toddler was seriously injured when a gunman opened fire in a street in Harlesden on Wednesday night.

Officers were called to reports of gun fire on Energen Close at around 9.45pm and arrived to find four people suffering gunshot injuries.

Police say the suspect, who had a handgun, fired multiple shots at two teenage men who were standing in the street, and into a car hitting the two-year-old and his mother.

All four were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

The lone gunman is believed to have left the scene on a motorbike.

The condition of the three adults is not life-threatening or changing, police said, while the two-year-old remains in a serious but stable condition.

All four are believed to be known to each other.

The Met Police says no arrests have yet been made and officers are appealing for information from the public.

Detective Chief Inspector Rick Sewart of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Trident), said: “As result of this terrible crime an innocent two-year-old-boy is now seriously ill in hospital.

"This child was shot in a wanton act of indiscriminate violence.

"I know that people will be shocked and horrified that a little boy should be the victim of a gunman and I need the community to show their support for him, and his family, by telling police what they know.

"Anyone giving information will be fully supported and if you don’t want to give your name you can call Crimestoppers, which is totally anonymous.

"But however you want to do it, make that call, and anyone who is doubtful should think of that little boy and his family’s anguish.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 8326/03JUN.
