Two-year-old boy fighting for life and three women in hospital after horror crash on A99

A Scots tot is fighting for his life in hospital after a horror crash in the Highlands.

Cops raced to the A99 at Occumster at around 4.45pm on Sunday, August 22, following a two-car smash.

It's understood a blue Peugeot 208 collided with a blue Nissan Qashqai.

A two-year-old boy, one of the passengers in the Peugeot, was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow with life-threatening injuries.

The 25-year-old female driver and 26-year-old women passenger, both from the Peugeot, were also raced to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

The 44-year-old female driver of the Nissan was also seriously injured in the crash and taken to Raigmore Hospital.

The road was shut down for around eight hours as police launched a collision investigation.

Sergeant David Miller, of Dingwall Road Policing Unit, said: “A young child has sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of this crash with three women sustaining serious injuries and we are appealing for information to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“I would ask if you were driving in the area at the time and may have seen either car prior to the crash that you come forward and speak to officers.

“If there are any motorists with dashcam footage that were in the area around the time of the incident, please get in touch with police.”

Anyone with information can contact police via 101, quoting incident number 2828 of 22 August.
