Two year groups closed after coronavirus case at school

Two year groups at a North Somerset primary school have been closed after a student tested positive for coronavirus.

Reception and year six at Hutton Church of England Primary School have been closed following a confirmed case of the virus.

It is not known what year group the affected child was in or how many children are now away from lessons.

In a letter home to parents it revealed that there had been a single positive case at the school, which has 206 students on roll.

In the letter it said: “We have been made aware of one child from our school community which has tested positive for Covid 19.

“We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

“The small number of children that have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus have received a letter informing them their child must stay at home for 14 days.”

The school remains open to all other year groups.

The letter added: “The school remains open and your child should continue to attend school as normal if they remain well.”
