Two workers test positive for coronavirus at Kilmarnock Halfords garage and shop

Two Kilmarnock Halfords workers have tested positive for coronavirus, it was revealed today.

One worker from the retailer's shop at the Glencairn Retail Park and another from their nearby garage on Campbell Street have been struck down by the virus.

Bosses confirmed that both outlets were closed and subjected to a deep clean before reopening.

A Halfords spokesman said: "We can confirm that two colleagues, one from our retail store and one from McConechys Autocentre, in Kilmarnock, have been diagnosed with Coronavirus.

"As soon as we became aware of this we closed the retail store and Autocentre and sent home their fellow colleagues.

"We have performed a deep clean at both, and they are now open and welcoming back customers.

"Any colleagues that were identified as contacts per government test and protect guidance have been required to self-isolate.

"If customers have any concerns and have visited either recently then they should call NHS 111 or visit  https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/  for the latest information."
