Two workers at Scots Warburtons factory test positive for coronavirus

Two staff members at a Scots Warburtons factory have tested positive for coronavirus.

Bosses at the Bellshill plant on Sholto Crescent in the Lanarkshire town confirmed the workers had tested positive for Covid-19 over the past 10 days and said six other employees are now awaiting test results.

The workers who have been in contact with the positive pair are now self isolating and will receive full pay whilst they are off.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Over the last 10 days two people at our Bellshill bakery have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently self-isolating.

"Any employees identified as being in close contact with the two individuals are also self-isolating and awaiting test results.

"We have been in contact with Public Protection Scotland who are fully aware of the situation and the approach taken at site.

"All necessary steps to ensure we protect our people have been taken, and we will continue to strictly follow all Government guidelines to ensure all our sites can operates safely.

"All those that are required to self-isolate will receive their full company sick pay as per their terms and conditions."
