Two women taken to hospital after Ballymena shop sign collapses

Ballymena (Geopolitical Entity) Mid and East Antrim Borough Council PSNI

Two women have been taken to hospital after a shop sign collapsed in Co Antrim.

The incident, which happened in the Fairhill Lane are of Ballymena occurred shortly after 5pm on Wednesday evening.

The PSNI are working with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland and Environmental Health at Mid and East Antrim Borough Council to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse of signage in the Fairhill Lane area of Ballymena just after 5.05pm today, Wednesday 5th April.

"Officers, along with colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, responded to a report that a large sign had fallen at business premises.

"Two women were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries."
