Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward after two women were left seriously injured in a crash on the M6.
The two-car smash happened on the northbound carriageway of the motorway, near to junction 17 at Sandbach, at around 7.06pm last Friday (May 19). Emergency services rushed to the scene.
A black Volkswagen and blue Renault Megane were involved in the crash, police said. The Renault hit the central reservation.

The driver - a 70-year-old woman from Merseyside - and the passenger - a 63-year-old woman from Stafford - suffered serious injuries. They were both rushed to hospital for treatment.
The 70-year-old remains in hospital with a vertebrae fracture. The Volkswagen driver - a 38-year-old man from Manchester - escaped uninjured.
Officers are now asking for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward. Police Constable Pete Kotlar, of Cheshire Roads and Crime Unit, said: "This was a serious collision which has resulted in a 70-year-old woman and 63-year-old woman sustaining serious injuries.
"We are committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place. As part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who was travelling on the M6, near to junction 17, at the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed the collision.
"The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage of the incident. I urge anyone with any information – no matter how small – to get in touch."
