Two women robbed man at his Springburn home after forcing way in

Two women were convicted of robbing a man in his own home leaving him with five pounds in coins.

Natalie McGovern, 29, and Claire Buller, 45, pounced on Charles McLachlan, 59, in Glasgow’s Springburn area in June this year.

The pair pushed Mr McLachlan into his living room before getting on top of him and went through his pockets.

Buller later claimed that she was owed money by Mr McLachlan who suffers from PTSD.

McGovern and Buller were found guilty of assault today (Thursday) by a jury at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The court heard Mr McLachlan was “pushed” away from his front door as McGovern and Buller barged in.

He said: “They pushed me into the living room and I was trying to pull them off.

“They pushed me on the couch, Claire was leaning across me and Natalie was on my knees.

“I wasn’t dying for £135 so I just let them do it.”

Mr McLachlan claimed McGovern and Buller went through his jeans pockets which contained £140.

He said: “The only thing left was five pounds.

“The rest was in notes except the five pounds that was in coins.”

Mr McLachlan told the court that he had been friends with Buller for over a year but “banned” her from his house for stealing.

He only met McGovern once earlier that day.

McGovern’s DNA was found on Mr McLachlan’s jeans pockets and on his neck.

McGovern and Buller both claimed they acted in self-defence.

Sentence was deferred until next month by Sheriff Joan Kerr for reports.

McGovern and Buller, from Glasgow’s Springburn, were remanded in custody meantime.
