Two women hurt in Leeds crash with police car

Two women were injured in a crash between their car and a police vehicle last night (Thursday).

The accident happened at the junction of the B6159 Selby Road and Dunhill Rise, Halton, at around 9.45pm.

It is believed officers, in a BMW estate car, were responding to an emergency call when their vehicle collided with a Volkswagen Passat.

Two women, aged 39 and 61, were taken to hospital although their injuries were not considered life-threatening, West Yorkshire Police said today.

Neither police officer was injured in the accident.

The road was closed and a diversion was put in place while crash investigators examined the scene.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed.

A police spokesperson said: "At 9.44pm last night (22/10) police officers in a marked roads policing unit vehicle were involved in a road traffic collision with a member of the public’s car at the junction of Selby Road and Dunhill Rise in Leeds.

"Two women members of the public, aged 39 and 61, from the other car were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

"The two police officers involved were not injured.

"A road closure and diversion has been put in place for collision investigation work and the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified."
