SURAT: Two women employees of a private finance company were molested in a busy lane of Variyali Bazaar, allegedly by kin of a loan installment defaulter, whom they had gone to meet for collection

The women told police in their complaint that the accused defaulter woman’s Shahedabano Pathan, her husband Rehan and brother Afzal Ansari, tried to strip one of them by tearing her clothes on Wednesday evening following an altercation.

Lalgate police registered an offence of molestation against the accused who are yet to be arrested.

According to police, the complainant is a 25-year-old who lives in Chowk Bazaar area and works as a collection agent with a private finance firm. At around 6:30pm on Wednesday, she along with another colleague went to one of Pathan’s house in Variyali Bazaar to collect a pending instalment of Rs 10,000. When she was talking with Pathan’s husband Rehan about the money, Shaheda came and started abusing both the women. When they warned her not to use expletives, she attacked them and started beating both of them.

Meanwhile, Afzal also attacked the complainant, tore her clothes and molested her. The victim and her colleague somehow managed to escape from the spot and save themselves from further embarrassment. The accused allegedly threatened to kill them if they came again for recovery.

After informing their company officials, one of the victims filed a complaint late Wednesday evening.
