Two women have been charged after a child was found unconscious on a day care bus in central Queensland in May.

It is alleged the two women picked up the three-year-old from a Gracemere residence at about 8:30am on May 4.

They then allegedly drove to a childcare centre in Gracemere, parked the bus and left her on board.

Police said another staff member drove the bus to a school in Lucas Street at 2:45pm and saw the child unconscious in the back of the bus.

The child was airlifted to the Queensland Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

She has since recovered.

A 31-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman, both from Gracemere, have been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm.

They are due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 26.
