Two women have been arrested as part of a Garda probe into human trafficking, money laundering and prostitution have arrested two females.
The 29-year-old and 42-year-old were detained in Mullingar, Co Westmeath following a Garda operation.
Two premises were searched in the Mullingar area by gardai this morning.
The women are being held in Mullingar Garda Station and investigations are continuing, gardai said.
A Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí at Mullingar Co Westmeath investigating human trafficking, money laundering and prostitution have arrested two females.
In a Garda operation this morning, Sunday April 14 2019 two premises were searched in the Mullingar area.
"Two females were arrested (42 yrs. & 29yrs) in connection with this investigation and are currently detained at Mullingar Garda Station under the provisions of Section 50- Criminal Justice Act 2007.
"Investigations are continuing."
