Two women and teenage boy remain in custody for questioning over death of Peter Richardson

Two women and a teenage boy arrested on suspicion of murder remain in custody following the death of Peter Richardson from Wythenshawe.

The 51-year-old died in hospital of a stab wound on Thursday, May 21.

Police were called to Topfield Road at 12.10am following reports that a man had collapsed.

The victim, who has since been formally identified as Mr Richardson, was taken to hospital where he passed away a short time later.

Detectives investigating Mr Richardson's death believe there was an incident involving Mr Richardson which took place at an address on Greenwood Road a short time before he collapsed.

Officers arrested two women – aged 36 and 27 – and a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of murder.

A number of scenes were put in place on Greenwood Road, Topfield Crescent, Moorcroft Road and Brookcroft Road following his death.

Photos from the scene showed a home cordoned off with police cars outside on Greenwood Road.

Eyewitnesses said crime scene investigators were seen on Moorcroft Road throughout Friday and into Saturday.

Det Chief Insp Liam Boden, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “First and foremost I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Peter’s family and friends who are mourning such a tragic loss.

“Whilst we have made arrests, I want to stress that our investigation remains very much ongoing.

“We have a dedicated team of detectives working around the clock and they are continuing to review this case.

“As with any murder investigation, we will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice and will follow every single possible line of enquiry available to us. We are determined to get answers for Peter’s loved ones.

“I would urge anyone who thinks they may hold information to please get in touch with us as even the smallest detail could prove absolutely vital and assist our enquiries.”
