Two women and girl, 7, injured in serious road crash near Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan

Two women and a young girl were injured in a serious road crash yesterday afternoon.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which happened shortly before 3pm on the N2 at Annamarran, near Carrickmacross in Co Monaghan on Friday, May 7.

The two vehicle crash saw one driver, a woman in her 30s, and passenger, a girl aged seven, taken from the scene by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth.

The driver of the second vehicle, a woman in her late 50s, was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin.

The crash site was examined by a Garda forensic team and the road has since reopened to traffic.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling on the N2 south of Carrickmacross at the time of the collision who may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make it available to investigating gardai.
