Police are investigating after three bodies were found at a house in Leeds. Shortly before noon on Sunday, West Yorkshire police received a call expressing concerns about the occupants of an address in East End Park.

Police, fire and ambulance attended the terraced house and found the bodies of two women and a man, thought to be in their 20s or 30s. There was evidence of a small fire, which appeared to have burned out in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The women are believed to have been the occupants and the man their friend. It is thought that the mother of one of the women raised the alarm after not being able to reach her daughter and noticing blackened windows at the property.

Police are not believed to be looking for anyone in connection with the deaths at this time, though all lines of inquiry remain open. Three rottweiller dogs were also found dead at the property.

DI Mark Atkinson of Leeds district CID said: “Our inquiries are at a very early stage and we are currently trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths. Initial indications are there has been a small fire at the premises.

“Forensic postmortems will be held to establish how the three people found inside the property have died. We believe the deaths are likely to have occurred in the early hours of Saturday and we would like to hear from anyone who has seen the occupants of the address on Friday.”

A white police tent was set up outside the front door of a red-brick house, set in a block of four homes with front gardens.

Officers had cordoned off the street while forensic specialists in white suits worked inside the house. Locals gathered to watch the police activity.

A neighbour said: “I don’t know what has happened here. All I know is there has been a tragedy.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds district CID on 101 quoting log number 538 or 27 March.
