Two vehicles smash cash machine to bits near Leeds city centre police station

A cash machine was ripped from the ground after being smashed into by two vehicles in Leeds city centre.

Police say the apparent raid on the ATM on Woodhouse Lane happened at about 9.30pm on Friday (June 25).

The incident happened near to a police station and right in front of a student accommodation building.

Officers cordoned the scene off with tape, which remained in place on Saturday morning, while investigations were carried out.

The cash machine was left a mangled, twisted wreck of metal and broken glass after being hit by two vehicles, coming away from the ground entirely.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are investigating an incident in which a cash machine on Woodhouse Lane was damaged by two vehicles.

"This is reported to have occurred at about 9.30pm yesterday (Friday).

"Two vehicles have been recovered in connection with this investigation and enquiries are continuing."
