Two travellers being assessed for coronavirus in Brisbane after airport screening

Two people who arrived at Brisbane International Airport have been taken to hospital to be assessed for the deadly coronavirus.

Medical staff started screening travellers at the airport on the weekend.

A spokeswoman for Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles said the pair had been through China.

The spokeswoman said the two were put into isolation at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital yesterday for tests.

Mr Miles said the two people had been exhibiting symptoms on the flight.

"Just over 200 passengers have now been intercepted on arrival to Queensland airports and they've been assessed by our nurses there," he said.

"Three have been transported to hospital, but two have been transported with concerns related to the coronavirus.

"They're currently being tested, they're at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and we expect to have those tests in later today."

Mr Miles did not say the age or gender of the people being tested.

In Queensland, 370 have now been tested for the virus.

Mr Miles said all passengers on the Tigerair Australia flight TT566 from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, which had the state's only confirmed cases onboard, had now all been tested.

So far, only two people have tested positive and are receiving treatment in the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Meanwhile, scores of Chinese tourists are stranded in Far North Queensland after direct flights between Cairns and China were cancelled over the weekend amid ongoing concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

About 100 passengers have been impacted by Hainan Airlines cancelling flights between Cairns and Shenzhen.
