Two toddlers hospitalised with coronavirus in Ireland

Two toddlers have been hospitalised with coronavirus in Ireland.

The incidents were notified to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre between Wednesday and Saturday last week.

Both of the youngsters are under the age of four.

However the exact age and location of the toddlers has not been confirmed by health officials.

The current condition of the tots has also not been shared.

In total, 31 children under the age of four have been hospitalised with the virus since the pandemic began.

Earlier this month another child under the age of four became the youngest person with Covid-19 to be admitted to intensive care in an Irish hospital.

Overall, 456 kids between 0-4 years old have tested positive for the disease.

There was also a noticeable increase in the number of cases confirmed in youngsters, with 28 further cases in children under four confirmed in just three days.

And 69 more infections were reported in kids between the ages of five and 14 over the same period.

However thankfully no children under 14 have passed away from the killer bug here.

Sadly a total of 1,792 people with Covid-19 have lost their life in Ireland since the start of the outbreak.
