Two-time champion Kevin Na withdraws from Shriners Children’s Open with injury

Kevin Na’s first PGA Tour win came back in 2011 at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. He then went on a seven year winless drought before breaking through in 2018. He’s now won a golf tournament in three of the last four years, including the 2019 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

On Tuesday, the two-time champion announced on Twitter he had withdrawn from this week’s field at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas. Although he was seen practicing throughout the day, his absence this week is due to a rib injury.

His 2021-22 campaign started with a missed cut at the Fortinet Championship in September, an event won by Max Homa. Despite his struggles in Napa, Na flashed great form at the end of last season with four top-10 finishes in his final six starts, one of those being a solo third at the Tour Championship in Atlanta where he cashed a check for $4 million.

Na is holding out hope to be healthy enough to tee it up in the CJ Cup, the PGA Tour’s next stop.
