Two tickets and dozens of warnings as Edinburgh police crack down on speeding drivers near schools

Police have been cracking down on drivers caught speeding near local schools in Edinburgh.

Community officers and the road police unit carried out speed checks and school patrols in the north west of the capital on Wednesday.

Several drivers were issued with warnings from police, while two drivers were hit with speeding tickets.

One driver was reported "straight to court" after they were caught traveling at 35mph in a 20mph zone.

In a statement, Police Scotland said: "Today local community officer from Drum Brae & Gyle paired up with @polscotrpu to carry out school patrols and speed checks.

"Several drivers warned, two drivers received speeding tickets and one reported straight to court for traveling 35mph in a 20mph zone."

Teams have been visiting a number of different spots across the section of the city in order to enforce speed limits and check that drivers are up to standard.
