Two thirds of voters think Boris Johnson will be a poor ambassador for Britain

Two-thirds of voters believe Boris Johnson will do a bad job of representing Britain on the world stage.

An exclusive poll – carried out after the PM hopeful failed to stand up to Donald Trump over the UK ambassador fiasco – even reveals 47 per cent of Tory supporters think he’ll mess up, as well as 43 per cent of Leave voters.

And there is no age group, social grade or region that believes he’ll cut it.

In the North, more than two-thirds gave him the thumbs-down as a world statesman, while the result was roughly the same with working-class voters.

The polling was carried out by YouGov for Hope Not Hate and Best For Britain campaigners.

Best for Britain supporter David Lammy MP said: “He has no credibility left and zero legitimacy to make the biggest political decision of a generation.

“It is vital the public, not Johnson, is allowed the have the final say on Brexit .”

Tory Party members are choosing the new PM. The result will be announced on July 23.
