An official statement said the BSF troops also seized three packets of contraband of approximately 3.25 kg suspected to be heroin.

BSF troops on duty detected some suspicious movement ahead of border security fence. Sensing the threat and to stop the misadventure, the troops challenged the intruders, the statement said. Subsequently, on hearing the sound of rifle cocking, the troops fired upon the intruders in self-defence. This resulted in killing of two armed Pakistan intruders on the spot, the statement said.

“Three packets of suspected to heroin were recovered during search on home side of border security fence. On searching the area, the troops found bodies of two Pakistan intruders,” it said.

The statement added that one AK-56 rifle with two magazines and 61 live rounds, one Magnum rifle with one magazine and 29 live rounds, one pistol with two magazines, currency of Pakistan Rupees 30, and two PVC pipes (10 feet each) were also recovered.

The incident took place in the Rajatal area of Attari in Amritsar in the early hours of Thursday.
