A 15 year-old boy has been treated in hospital for cuts and bruises after he was allegedly beaten and robbed at Cessnock on Monday.

Police said the boy was riding his bike with a friend on Aberdare Road at Aberdare around 1am on Monday when he was allegedly set upon by two older boys.

Police will allege one of the older boys, aged 16, threw a scooter at the victim causing him to fall from his bike. The two boys then allegedly punched and kicked the younger boy on the ground before stealing his shoes.

The younger boy was taken to Cessnock Hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises.

Police said both 16 year-old boys attended Cessnock Police Station around 5.30pm on Monday where they were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

The boys were given conditional bail to appear at Cessnock Children's Court in January.

Meanwhile, in an another unrelated incident at Aberdare, police attached to the Hunter Valley Police District Target Action Group entered a home on Rawson Street around 8.50am on Monday and executed a search warrant.

Officers allegedly located and seized seized a small amount of cannabis, a wallet, a homemade weapon similar to mace, a motorcycle helmet and a motorcycle, all of which police say they suspect was stolen, at the property.

Around 11.15am, officers executed a second search warrant on a rural property at Lovedale Road where they allegedly uncovered and seized a mountain bike, which police say they also suspect was stolen.

Inquiries were continuing, police said on Monday.
