Police have charged two teenagers in connection with the fire which tore through Wester Hailes Education Centre on Murrayburn Drive at around 8pm on Friday (13 March).
Eye witnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from the school and several appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service tackled the ‘significant’ blaze.
In an update Edinburgh Police confirmed that two 16-year-old boys had been charged in connection to the incident on Murrayburn Drive and would appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
The full statement read: “Two 16-year-old male youths have been charged in connection with wilful fire-raising on Murrayburn Drive in Edinburgh.
"The fire was reported around 8pm on Fri, 13 Mar. A report will be submitted to the PF and they will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Mon, 16 Mar, 2020.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed there were no casualties from the fire.
