Two teens stabbed as third is held on suspicion of attempted murder

A 17-year old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two teenagers were stabbed in a suspected targeted attack.

Police were called to Thurston, Skelmersdale, after an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were stabbed on Wednesday at around midday.

The man suffered stab wounds to his abdomen and the girl was stabbed in the leg.

Both victims were taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment and their condition was described as stable.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested yesterday (Thursday, 9 July) on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

Lancashire Police said the victims and the offender are thought to be known to one another.

A spokesman for the force said: "At around 12pm on Wednesday (July 8), we were called to the report of two people being stabbed at an address on Thurston in Skelmersdale.

"A man, 18, suffered stab wounds to his abdomen and the woman, 16, was wounded to the leg in what is believed to be a targeted attack. It is thought that the victims and offenders are known to each other.

"The victims have been taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment and are in a stable condition.

"Yesterday (Thursday, July 9) a 17-year-old boy from Skelmersdale was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody."
