Two teenagers have died and three others are injured after their car crashed into a tree in northern NSW.

Emergency services were called to Plains Station Road in Tabulam, about 60km west of Casino, in the early hours of Saturday.

They found the Volkswagen Tiguan had lost control and hit a tree, killing a 14 year-old and a 15 year-old.

The two teenagers, who are yet to be formally identified, were declared dead at the scene.

Another three teens were taken to hospital, with one in a serious condition and the other two being treated for minor injuries.

One of the injured was 14 and the other two were aged 15.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
