Three teens charged with animal cruelty after tormenting joey

Two teenagers charged after film emerges of them attacking a young kangaroo in WA’s far north

A third teenage boy has been charged with animal cruelty over a video of two other teenagers tormenting a young kangaroo.

The 14-year-old, from Halls Creek in Western Australia's far north Kimberley, was charged by local police on Sunday.

It is understood he filmed the incident.

The other teenagers — a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old — were charged after a member of the public came forward with the disturbing footage on Friday night.

Those boys were identified in the video.

Police said the footage showed two of the boys "tormenting and striking a joey several times".

All three teenagers will face the Halls Creek Children's Court on January 10.
