Two teens charged after string of cars vandalised in Scots town

Two teenagers have been charged after a string of cars were vandalised in a South Ayrshire town on Sunday night.

Yesterday we told how several cars were allegedly targeted in and around Ayr including one vehicle belonging to a new driver who had just passed their test.

At Blackfriars Court, near Christina's bar, the driver's window of a purple Peugeot 107 with passed plates was allegedly smashed at around 6.50pm.

Just under an hour-and-a-half later the driver's window of a white car was said to have been smashed around a mile away in Hawkhill Avenue.

It's also believed another car was allegedly targeted in nearby Wallacetoun North, known locally as White City.

Following enquiries by local officers, two boys aged 13 and 14, have been charged with incidents of vandalism to a number of cars in the area and also for an alleged theft in Ayr town centre.

Both boys will be reported to the Children's Reporter.

Chief Inspector Brian Anderson, Area Commander at South Ayrshire said "I am aware of the distress and inconvenience these crimes caused to the victims and the disgust from the wider public following media reporting of these incidents.

"Enquiries were undertaken and following a further incident of alleged theft in the town centre today the boys were traced and reported.

"I would like to thank those members of the public who assisted with police enquiries following these incidents".
