Two teens charged after being busted riding stolen Just Eat bikes by plainclothes cops

Two hapless teen crooks have been charged with stealing ‘Just Eat’ bikes.

The unfortunate youths, aged 13 and 14, were spotted by plainclothes police officers who happened to be on patrol in the area.

The two were nicked by the cops near Shandwick Place in the city centre and charged yesterday.

In a statement on Twitter, Police Scotland said: “On 02/09/20, two boys aged 13 & 14 were charged for possessing stolen 'Just Eat' bikes in the Shandwick Place area after being spotted by officers on foot patrol in plain clothes.”

An indicator on the front of the bikes, which are available to rent, flashes blue and red if the bike is missing and white if it is rented.

The news follows a spate of thefts and vandalism of the rental bikes, which has seen bike stations damaged and bikes stolen in the city centre.
