Two teenagers threatened and robbed by masked gang leaving victims 'badly shaken'

Two teenagers have been threatened and robbed by a masked gang leaving them 'badly shaken'.

The victims aged 17 and 18 were confronted by five male youths in Hamilton last night at around 7.15pm.

Police are now hunting the yobs who demanded their personal belongings at Douglas Park Lane, which runs behind Hamilton West Train Station.

They then ran away towards Academical Football Ground after robbing the teens.

The group was aged between 16 and 21, one was wearing a blue jacket and grey jogging bottoms and the others were wearing dark clothing with face masks.

Two are believed to have been in possession of bicycles.

Detective Constable Steven Totten from Cambuslang CID said: “Members of the public who were passing by came to the assistance of the victims, who were left badly shaken by what happened.

“This type of aggressive and intimidating behaviour is not acceptable and I am appealing to anyone, who can assist us in identifying the individuals involved, to come forward.

“If you were in the area and noticed a group matching the above description, or anything at all suspicious, please get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 3954 of Saturday, 15 May. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
