Two teenagers have been taken to hospital following a stabbing in Piccadilly Gardens.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault in connection with the incident.
He remains in police custody for questioning.
Police were called to reports of a stabbing at about 8.30pm on Thursday.
A 19-year-old man has been detained and taken to hospital with a stab wound to the back.
He's said to be in a stable condition.
Another 19-year-old-man has been detained and taken to hospital with a minor facial injury.
A large police cordon was in place following the incident.
Metrolink services were suspended through Market Street to Manchester Piccadilly railway station as a result.
Det Insp Jen Tattersall, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: "This incident has left two people in hospital and we currently have one person in police custody.
"An investigation is currently ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this stabbing.
"I would like to reassure the public that we have increased police patrols in the area as detectives carry out their enquiries, and we are treating this as an isolated incident with no further risk to the wider public.
"Piccadilly Gardens is a popular location, therefore we are confident that there are a number of people who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed this incident.
