Two teenagers have died and three other people have been seriously injured in a car crash in Northumberland.

Northumbria police said Connor Lapworth, 18, died at the scene and Corey Mavin, 15, suffered head injuries and died in hospital.

The incident involved a Suzuki Vitara, a Range Rover Evoque and a Ford Focus in Cramlington on Friday.

The pair of teenagers who died, and two of those who have serious injuries were in the Suzuki.

A 36-year-old woman in the Range Rover was also seriously injured. The driver of the Ford Focus was unharmed.

Northumbria police said: “Our thoughts are firmly with the families of the two young people who have lost their lives.

“We will offer them all of the support they need and ask that their privacy is respected at this time.”
